Church History
In the early 1940's a Minister by the name of Rev. Vaughn established the People's Baptist Church in White Cloud, MI. After his passing the Rev. Simmons took his place and the church was a stable institution in the community. In 1974 the Rev. Simmons became ill and had to retire in 1975. After Rev. Simmons passed on the church members prayed for a pastor. In August of 1975, Pastor Jessie Mason became the official pastor of People's Baptist Church. He traveled with his wife First Lady Mar Jo Mason and their children from Lansing to white Cloud for over 40 years. First Lady Mason worked in many areas in the ministry right along side her husband. In July of every year, Pastor Mason held a revival and it was always a spirit filled week. Pastor Mason assigned an assistant pastor named Rev. Zeddie Chamberlain and he faithfully served traveling from Muskegon every Wednesday to conduct Bible Study and every Sunday to participate in the services. The church began to grow and people from all over mid and west Michigan came and fellowshipped. Pastor Mason had a vision of seeing different denominations coming together and praising God as one and God fulfilled that vision in the ministry. In the early 80's, Pastor Mason had the vision to build. Then God sent Sister Maryann Gilmore from Detroit with her sons that were in construction. People from all walks of life contributed to the building of the new church. The Gilmore brothers also contributed their time every weekend until the building was complete. The new church was completed in 1983. In 1997 Pastor Mason retired as the head Pastor of People's Baptist Church and became the overseer of Glory of the Latter House Ministries (formally known as People's Baptist Church). Pastor Jeffery Murchison along with his wife First Lady Juanita Murchison have received the mantel and carried the torch from then till now, so the vision still lives at Glory of the Latter House Ministries.
